The Just Like You Global Foundation is proud to announce the successful completion of a five-week tennis camp for kids ages 8 to 14, held at Scarborough East Tennis Complex. Over 30 children participated in this engaging and dynamic camp, which not only taught the fundamentals of tennis but also aimed to raise awareness against abuse and equip young minds with tools for prevention.
During the camp, the children learned essential tennis techniques from qualified coaches, honing their coordination, discipline, and sportsmanship. Yet, what made this camp truly unique was its dual focus. As part of our foundation’s mission to prevent abuse and create safe spaces for children, each day of the camp incorporated educational sessions. These sessions taught the kids how to recognize inappropriate behavior, the importance of speaking up, and how to foster respectful and supportive environments both on and off the court.
“Sports have an incredible way of teaching life lessons,” said Dr. Lizzie Bronte, the founder of Just Like You Global. “Through tennis, we not only built physical and mental strength but also empowered these children to understand their own boundaries and the importance of respecting others’.”
Parents, too, appreciated the unique focus of the camp. “My daughter had a great time learning tennis, but more importantly, she now knows how to talk to us about difficult situations,” said one parent. “This camp gave her confidence, not just as a player, but as a young person who understands her rights.”
The camp concluded with an awards ceremony, recognizing all outstanding athletes and those who demonstrated leadership and integrity. As a lasting impact, each participant received resource materials on recognizing abuse and fostering safe environments, ensuring they carry these lessons beyond the tennis court.
As our organization continues to create safe spaces for children, this tennis camp was just one of many programs designed to combine physical activity, fun, and critical life lessons.
Together, we can empower survivors, raise awareness, and create a safer world. Your support is invaluable to us—reach out today and be a part of the change.
